Brunch

…is potentially my favourite meal. brunch reminds me of NYC (where i found a $1000 lobster omelette) and i like how brunch is associated with nicerelaxing saturday mornings. we usually go looking for lovelypoachedeggs when we know we have nothing much happening in the afternoon so that we can take our time.

this week, we visited st. ali in south melbourne. we had to work for our food because this little cafe was tucked away in some back lane and it took abit of walking around before we found it. it was recommended for its coffee because they roast their own beans… but i’m not a coffee-lover (bounce off walls!) so i can’t tell you whether they live up to it. but i can tell you that the food was good. the yolk in my poached eggs were the right consistency (i.e. runny), my smoked salmon wasn’t too salty and my avocado fetta salsa complemented the salmon really well. perhaps my only gripe was that the glass of fresh orange juice was a little too sour (i have a HUGE ulcer!) but i don’t think they have much control over the oranges.
