Death is not dying

i wonder if people think about dying.

(well, i just got back from August: Osage County which is a dark comedy featuring a very dysfunctional family with a patriarch who committed suicide. and since we’re at that, it was a very entertaining play (i lasted 3 hours!) but it’s closing in melbourne tomorrow so if you do get a chance to watch it in another city, please do so!)

i think about dying all the time. don’t get me wrong – i don’t get excited by it… and neither do i think about taking my own life. but i do wonder …what would happen if i get run down by a car tomorrow? or if i get cancer? what would i tell my loved ones? who should i call first? should i have a will (even though i don’t have much money)? should i have an ‘in case of emergency’ number on my phone? how would the paramedics know who to call if i was in the middle of a terrorist attack? should i write letters to everyone in case i die in my sleep and i don’t get to tell them that i love them?

will i meet God when i die?

as much as it’s a morbid topic, aren’t all these valid questions?

bun showed me this website a few days ago featuring a lady called Rachel Barkey who is dying from cancer. she shares her testimony in the video and i’m just blown away by the courage she has in her ‘last few days’ because of her hope in Jesus Christ.

it’s easy to praise God when things are going well…it takes steadfast faith to believe that God remains good and faithful even when things are not.
